Royal Rajasthan Circuit
10 days through the heart of India's most regal state
Overview
This 10-day circuit through Rajasthan is the definitive introduction to India's most photogenic state. Beginning in the Pink City of Jaipur, you'll move west to the Blue City of Jodhpur, deep into the golden Thar Desert at Jaisalmer, before ending in the romantic lake city of Udaipur. Every day brings a new colour, a new palace, a new taste.
Day-by-Day Plan
Day 1 — Arrive Jaipur — The Pink City
Jaipur, Rajasthan
Arrive at Jaipur International Airport or by train from Delhi. Check into your hotel and spend the afternoon acclimatising with a gentle walk through the old city's rose-pink streets. Evening at leisure — recommended: rooftop dinner at a haveli restaurant with views of the illuminated Hawa Mahal.

Day 2 — Jaipur — Forts, Palaces & Markets
Jaipur, Rajasthan
A full day exploring Jaipur's extraordinary heritage. Start early at Amber Fort before the heat builds, then work your way down to the City Palace complex and Jantar Mantar observatory. Afternoon is best spent bargaining for gems and textiles in Johari Bazar.

Day 3 — Drive to Jodhpur — The Blue City
An early start for the 5-hour drive west to Jodhpur. The road passes through classic Rajasthani landscape — scrub desert, camel carts, and fortified villages. Arrive mid-afternoon with enough time to climb to Mehrangarh Fort before sunset.

Day 4 — Jodhpur — The Blue Lanes
Jodhpur, Rajasthan
A full day in Jodhpur. Morning in the blue-painted Brahmpuri neighbourhood — the narrow lanes are at their most photogenic in the early light. Afternoon visit to Jaswant Thada cenotaph and Umaid Bhawan Palace museum.

Day 5 — Drive to Jaisalmer — The Golden City
The longest drive of the circuit — nearly 6 hours west into the Thar Desert. But the destination is unforgettable: a living medieval fort city built entirely of golden sandstone, rising from a flat desert plain like a mirage.

Day 6 — Jaisalmer — Desert Camp & Dunes
Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
The highlight of the circuit for many travellers. An afternoon jeep safari to the Sam Sand Dunes, camel ride at sunset, and an overnight in a luxury desert camp under an extraordinary sky of stars.

Day 7 — Drive to Udaipur — The City of Lakes
Leave the desert behind for a long drive south to Udaipur — Rajasthan's most romantic city. The landscape transforms dramatically as you approach the Aravalli Hills and the shimmering lakes come into view.

Day 8 — Udaipur — Palaces on the Lake
Udaipur, Rajasthan
Udaipur rewards slow exploration. Morning at the City Palace complex — the largest in Rajasthan. Afternoon boat ride to the Lake Palace (now a hotel, but boat trips pass by it). Evening Gangaur Ghat for the sunset aarti.
